Portable lifting aid for safely moving clients

Patient Lifting Solutions - PLS

AR 200P – Portable ceiling lift

PLS produces lifting solutions for hospitals, nursing homes, and domestic environments. With the development of a portable ceiling lift, PLS can offer lifting solutions in more places within institutions. In combination with a guide rail and smart components (rotary, switch, coupling), a client can be comfortably moved, for example, from bed to toilet.

Weight reduction while maintaining function and safety

The biggest challenge was achieving a 40% weight reduction compared to existing systems without losing functionality, quality, and safety. Since the lift hangs from the rail system with a single hook, all components had to be balanced to keep the lift horizontal during lifting.

To meet these requirements, the entire product structure was reviewed. Thanks to the design of a new basic frame with tiltable lifting arms, new battery technology, and the optimization of the component principles, the desired weight reduction was achieved. In a test setup, the required lifting strength of the prototype was demonstrated.

Clear and efficient housing construction

After the basic frame proved itself, the housing construction was determined together with PLS. Using hand sketches and 3D CAD visualizations, an efficient structure and a clear form were chosen. The design is sleek and friendly, with the screw connections hidden from view. Thanks to the symmetrical covers, fewer molds are needed, which is advantageous in the production process. The arms of the lift are foldable, and there is space for a wireless remote control. The whole is compact, safe, and practical to use.

Pleasant and effective collaboration

Throughout the entire process, we collaborated pleasantly and pragmatically with PLS. Step by step, partial solutions were developed, effectively utilizing the knowledge, experience, and supplier network of PLS.
