Kraft Heinz offers sauces that are globally recognized and highly valued. You encounter their unique flavours everywhere, often in the form of a single pack portion in restaurants. European regulations are announcing drastic reductions of single-use plastic in the upcoming years, and Kraft Heinz has committed to move towards a sustainable world by reducing plastic waste.
We have developed a unique dispenser which addresses this challenge and embraces sustainability while delivering premium experience.

Design with impact

Through a series of workshops, in collaboration with Kraft Heinz, we explored how the most impact could be achieved. From a variety of concepts, a user-friendly and easy-to-clean ‘Front of House’ sauce dispenser was chosen, embodying the ambition to combine a reduced ecological footprint with a strong brand recognition.
While dispensers are not a new concept, current ones are often challenging to clean and may contain non-reusable components. Our solution includes a completely new pump that can be quickly disassembled, cleaned in the dishwasher, and easily reassembled into a sealed system.
The cartridge of the dispenser contains a sauce pouch. By using large pouches instead of small sachets single-use plastic waste can be significantly reduced.

It has to work flawlessly

The idea was quickly conceived, but we also had to demonstrate that it works. Various functional prototypes were developed, tested, optimized, and retested. This process ultimately resulted in a simple and effective design, ready for the transition to the realization phase. We also supported Kraft Heinz in outsourcing production and quality control. Control of critical dimensions and material properties are crucial in this regard. All components were extensively tested to ensure the dispenser functions well. The result: the pump can be disassembled repetitively, is easy to clean, and has a long lifespan.

A strong brand with a strong product

For a company like Kraft Heinz, brand recognition is crucial, especially when using a dispenser in a ‘Front of House’ location. Our design clearly references the Kraft Heinz logo, and the cartridges’ colours match the Kraft Heinz brand identity. Through careful detailing, the dispenser sends out the quality that Kraft Heinz stands for. In addition to its distinctive shape, the pump’s design is innovative and original, allowing it to be patented. The intellectual property of this unique system gives Kraft Heinz a strong position in the market.
