Headsets that withstand their context
Quail Digital
Pro9, Pro10 and Pro11 headset series
The Pro5 is due for a successor after ten years, and once again Quail Digital approached us for this fine assignment. Two headset designs with a series of connecting base stations and a registration point were realized in a short period of time.
Smart design
The base station of the Pro5 also needed a more modern look. The new stations have a more modest look. They are much smaller and shaped like a ‘shield’ that sends and receives communication and protects the cables. They present a calm image on the wall.

Flexible in production and use
With one single housing seven different base stations can be composed. Each with its own electronics and specific functionality. That makes production both efficient and cost-effective. It also creates a great product family with a powerful brand image for Quail Digital. To finish everything off, npk also developed the graphic design for all the packaging.
Design vision is an engineering challenge
The slim shape of the headset combined with the smaller size of the base station were a challenge for our engineers. But we were able to meet all the client’s requirements by devising smart, multifunctional mechanisms that fit in a confined space. To do this, we made extensive use of 3D printed models. We performed numerous mechanical tests in our own model shop to determine the robustness of the design.
The long-term cooperation between the team members of Quail Digital and npk, who have known each other for years, also played an important role. Half a word is often enough to understand, inspire and share ideas with each other. And that makes it easy to turn problems into solutions and a strong end result.
